Introducing the AT Finder Talent Network

Over the past year, I’ve seen the same thing over and over again: athletic trainers posting anonymously to ask about salaries, settings, relocation, workload, and whether a better opportunity might be out there. In many cases, it’s not because they’re desperate to leave their current role. It’s because they want to explore what’s out there without their current employer knowing they’re looking. In a profession as small as athletic training, that matters.

That reality is a big part of why I’m beginning the rollout of the AT Finder Talent Network — a free, confidential resource for athletic trainers designed to help create better connections between ATs and employers while keeping athletic trainers in control of the process.

Athletic trainers who join the network will be able to confidentially share their setting preferences, geographic interests, career goals, and other information that can help AT Finder identify and facilitate connections with employers when the right opportunity arises. Each athletic trainer in the network will be assigned an AT Finder Talent ID, and employers will only see the de-identified information an athletic trainer agrees to make public — things like preferred geographic region, setting interests, years of experience, and what they may be looking for in their next role.

Your name, current employer, contact information, compensation expectations, and identifying details will not be shared with employers without your permission. Athletic trainers who would prefer to make more of their profile public, including their name and contact information, will also have the option to do so.

AT Finder is, and will remain, AT first. That means building something that protects athletic trainers, gives them a more private way to explore opportunities, and ensures they are not forced to choose between staying informed and protecting their current position.

Why this matters

The long-term vision is bigger than simply helping employers fill jobs. It’s about moving the profession forward by creating a better feedback loop between athletic trainers and employers.

If employers want to attract and retain great ATs, they need more candid insight into what athletic trainers are actually looking for — whether that’s compensation, support, staffing structure, work-life balance, leadership opportunity, or long-term growth. Over time, the Talent Network will also allow AT Finder to provide employers with candid market feedback when opportunities are consistently declined. If compensation is too low, the support is lacking, or the expectations don’t align with what athletic trainers are looking for, that’s information employers need to hear.

My hope is that this gives organizations better data to take back to their administration and ultimately helps create stronger athletic training positions across the profession.

Why participation matters

The more athletic trainers who join the Talent Network, the more powerful it becomes.

A larger network means more opportunities to make meaningful connections between ATs and employers, but it also means better data, stronger feedback, and a clearer picture of what athletic trainers are actually looking for in a role. Over time, that can help employers build better positions, improve hiring outcomes, and help move the profession forward in a real way.
