109 New Athletic Trainer Jobs — Monday, May 25th, 2026 - The Launch of "In The Seat"

Updated: 6 days ago

109 new athletic trainer jobs this week. Before anything else — happy Memorial Day. We hope you are getting a much deserved day off today. If you are covering an event or on call, we see you.

Volume pulled back from last week’s record 165 but the quality at the top held up well. Memorial Day weekend tends to slow posting cadence — so 109 clean, unique postings is a solid week by any other measure.

The headline this week is Amazon. The company posted an Injury Prevention Specialist role in Jacksonville, Florida at $60,200–$90,200 with sign-on payments and restricted stock units on top. RSUs in an athletic trainer job description are not something we see often. The full breakdown is in the picks.

The PWHL is also back on the board this week. San Jose posted both a Head AT at $95,000–$105,000 and an Assistant AT at $70,000–$78,000. That Head AT ceiling clears six figures — and makes three consecutive weeks of PWHL expansion franchises posting transparent salary ranges. Detroit two weeks ago. Las Vegas last week. San Jose this week. The league is building something and they are telling candidates what it pays. More on that in the picks.

Two featured roles sit after the picks this week — Moore Wellness Systems has a new opening in Cowpens, South Carolina, and YORK Orthopedic Recovery in Modesto is offering something genuinely different in terms of clinical setting and practice environment. Both are worth a look if the standard postings don’t fit what you’re looking for.

And at the end of this week’s newsletter — AT Finder is launching something new. In the Seat is an interview-style feature that gives employers a chance to tell the story behind their posting. The first one is with Brattleboro Union High School. More on that at the end.

Let’s get into the picks.

Athletic Trainer  |  St. Mary’s County Public Schools

Leonardtown, MD  |  $71,072–$107,490 (Annual, 11-Month)

The familiar civil service salary band story — the ceiling at $107,490 reflects the top of the classification range, not an entry point. The floor at $71,072 is the realistic starting salary for most candidates and it is strong for an 11-month secondary school AT contract. St. Mary’s County is in Southern Maryland, about an hour south of DC. Cost of living is below the DC metro proper but still runs above the national average. The district prioritizes internal candidates for vacancies, which signals genuine investment in retention. Ask specifically what step you enter at on the pay scale, whether sport assignments rotate or are fixed, and what summer expectations look like on an 11-month contract.

Injury Prevention Specialist  |  Amazon.com Services LLC

Jacksonville, FL  |  $60,200–$90,200 (Annual) + Sign-On + RSUs

Amazon is one of the largest employers of industrial athletic trainers in the country and this Jacksonville posting has the most distinctive compensation structure on the board this week. The base range at $60,200–$90,200 is competitive for occupational health AT work. What separates it is the sign-on payment and restricted stock units on top of salary — RSUs in an AT job description are genuinely uncommon. The role is M–F, day-one benefits including 401(k) matching, paid parental leave, and comprehensive health coverage. Jacksonville, Florida has no state income tax and cost of living runs close to the national average — the purchasing power on that salary is real. Ask directly what the RSU vesting schedule looks like, what the shift structure is given Amazon’s 24/7 operational model, and whether there is a dedicated clinical space or care is delivered on the warehouse floor.

Athletic Trainer  |  Advanced Physical Medicine

Merrillville, IN  |  $65,000–$85,000 (Annual) + $1,000 Sign-On

Merrillville is in the Chicago metro area on the Indiana side — cost of living runs roughly 5–10% below the national average, which changes what $65,000–$85,000 actually means in practice. The $1,000 sign-on is modest but confirmed. 401(k) with 4% match confirmed. CEU reimbursement confirmed. The multidisciplinary clinic model includes MDs, PTs, and other specialists, which provides a richer clinical environment than a solo outpatient setting. Ask about daily patient volume, how independently you design rehab protocols versus following physician-led plans, and whether weekend or after-hours community event coverage is expected.

Liberal, KS | $71,619–$102,093 (Annual)

A secondary school AT role with a ceiling clearing $100,000 in Liberal, Kansas — a small city in the southwest corner of the state with a cost of living well below the national average. That combination is genuinely rare. The dual role covers comprehensive athletic healthcare for approximately 400 student-athletes across 15 sports plus classroom instruction in Health Science as a CTE instructor. Additional stipends are noted on top of the base salary range. A Master's degree is required. Kansas licensure required.

Liberal is a remote market — that is the honest context before anything else. Southwest Kansas is not for everyone and the geographic isolation is real. But for an AT who is open to that tradeoff, the financial picture here is one of the strongest on the board this week. A $102,093 ceiling in a market where that salary has meaningful purchasing power, high professional autonomy to build and implement a comprehensive athletic healthcare system, and a dual-role structure that adds classroom variety to the day — this is the kind of posting that gets overlooked because of the zip code and shouldn't be.

Head Athletic Trainer  |  PWHL San Jose

San Jose, CA  |  $95,000–$105,000 (Annual)

The highest salary on the board this week and the third PWHL expansion franchise to post transparent compensation in as many weeks. Detroit at $88,000–$95,000. Las Vegas at $88,000–$95,000. San Jose at $95,000–$105,000 — and San Jose’s Head AT ceiling clears six figures. The pattern is clear: the PWHL is building medical infrastructure across new markets and posting what it pays. That is worth recognizing explicitly. The role leads a team of assistant trainers, serves as primary emergency responder, coordinates with the medical director and performance staff, and travels with the team throughout the full season. Three years of elite hockey experience required. BOC or CATA certification and California licensure required. The honest COL note: San Jose is one of the most expensive housing markets in the country — cost of living runs 60–80% above the national average. The $105,000 ceiling is strong but needs to be evaluated against Bay Area housing reality. No retirement or bonus disclosure — ask about both given the compensation level.

Industrial Athletic Trainer  |  Moore Wellness Systems  ★ Featured

Cowpens, SC  |  $60,000–$64,000 (Annual)

AT Finder’s staffing partner is back with a new opening in Cowpens, South Carolina. M–F, no nights, no weekends. SIMPLE IRA with employer matching, MedBridge CEU subscription, license and credential reimbursement. Cowpens is in the Upstate South Carolina market near Spartanburg — cost of living runs well below the national average. $60,000–$64,000 is genuine purchasing power in that market. For an AT evaluating the industrial occupational health space in the Southeast, this is a clean and transparently posted opportunity.

Performance & Recovery Specialist, ATC  |  YORK Orthopedic Recovery  ★ Featured

Modesto, CA  |  $38.00–$40.00/hr

YORK Orthopedic Recovery is a luxury performance and recovery clinic in Modesto offering a rare practice environment — whole-body cryotherapy, red light therapy, neurofeedback, and corrective exercise for tactical athletes and corporate wellness clients. The hourly rate is $38–$40 with a direct pathway from part-time to full-time. Bimonthly in-service training is built into the schedule. Owner mentorship is explicitly offered. Modesto is in the San Joaquin Valley — considerably more affordable than the Bay Area or LA. Confirm full-time status and ask about the specific timeline for the part-time to full-time transition before committing.

What's Worth Noting This Week:

This week, Athletic Trainer Finder is launching In the Seat — a new interview-style feature that gives employers a chance to sit down and talk directly about their athletic training openings.

The first feature will be with Brattleboro Union High School, a school that has been actively working to fill its athletic trainer position. The goal is simple: go beyond the job posting and help athletic trainers better understand the people, expectations, support, culture, and day-to-day reality behind the role.

That has always been part of the mission of Athletic Trainer Finder. Job seekers deserve more than vague postings and generic bullet points. They deserve transparency, context, and a clearer picture of what they are walking into before they apply.

In the Seat is meant to give employers a better way to tell that story. If your organization is hiring an athletic trainer and wants to help candidates understand the role beyond the listing itself, this may be a good fit.

Employers interested in being featured can reach out at atcfinder@gmail.com.

Until next week — stop looking, start finding.
