114 New Athletic Trainer Jobs — Monday, May 4th, 2026 - Including an abysmal wage from the Red Sox.

Welcome to edition 18 of the Athletic Trainer Finder weekly newsletter. This week, we have 114 new athletic trainer jobs on the board and Texas school districts showed up strong again, the industrial and occupational health market posted competitively, and a few roles in the collegiate and private school space are worth a look including an opportunity to build a sports medicine program from the ground up at the Master’s Academy in Stow, MA.

It wasn’t all sunshine this week, with a disappointing trend continuing in minor league baseball. the Boston Red Sox posted a Minor League Assistant Athletic Trainer position this week at $15 per hour. That is not a typo. A BOC-certified AT, working for a Major League Baseball organization, covering a full season through the Worcester Red Sox. FIFTEEN. DOLLARS. PER HOUR. That number belongs in every conversation about what the profession is worth to these organizations and how some employers continue to price it. There needs to be a culture shift with these roles and the market is going to have to speak if we want to send a message to these organizations to stop abusing their prestige.

Let's get into the picks.

Raleigh, NC  |  $50.00–$60.00/hr ($104,000–$124,800 Annually)

The highest confirmed full-time ceiling on the board this week. Industrial ergonomics and injury prevention in a manufacturing setting in Raleigh — one of the stronger job markets in the Southeast, running close to the national average on cost of living. The rate at $50–$60/hr is well above typical industrial AT compensation and the Raleigh market makes the purchasing power real. The honest caveat: the posting is lean. No retirement disclosure, no benefits detail beyond what the rate implies, and C&C LLC is not a nationally recognized name. Before committing, ask directly about the benefits structure, whether BOC and licensure renewal fees are covered, what the daily caseload looks like, and how physician oversight is structured in the manufacturing setting.

Athletic Trainer  |  BlazerJobs

Auburn, WA  |  $36.50–$56.50/hr (Fixed-Term through December 2026)

BlazerJobs is a staffing placement — this is a school district assignment in Auburn, Washington running through December 2026. The hourly ceiling at $56.50 is among the strongest for a school-based role on the market this week, and housing and meal stipends are listed as potential benefits. CEU reimbursement confirmed. Master’s degree and BOC certification required. Auburn is in the Seattle metro — cost of living runs roughly 44% above the national average and housing is expensive. The fixed-term nature through December is the most important thing to understand before applying. Treat this as a well-compensated contract assignment rather than a permanent position, and ask specifically about the conversion pathway if one exists after the contract ends.

Athletic Trainer  |  Loudoun County Public Schools

Sterling, VA  |  $61,869–$114,973 (Annual)

The same civil service salary band story we have seen from large school districts this year — the ceiling reflects the top of the classification range, not an entry point. The realistic starting salary for a new hire is the floor or close to it. What makes Loudoun County worth attention is the district itself — one of the wealthiest and highest-performing school divisions in Virginia, with resources and administrative support that most secondary school ATs never see. The 11-month, 208-day contract provides a defined structure. Sterling is in Loudoun County, DC metro — cost of living runs roughly 50% above the national average. Ask specifically what step you would enter at on the salary scale before the ceiling does any persuasive work.

Athletic Trainer  |  Northwest Independent School District

Trophy Club, TX  |  $70,135–$93,675 (Annual)

Northwest ISD is back on the board — this week it’s Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, a different campus from the Justin TX role that appeared in early April. DFW Metroplex, 205-day contract, no state income tax. The ceiling approaching $94,000 on a structured district pay scale is experience-based and attainable. Texas teacher certification and AT licensure required. The usual secondary school questions apply: sole provider status, supply budget, evening and weekend coverage expectations. Between the salary range, the COL, and the no-income-tax math, this continues to be one of the stronger secondary school markets in the country.

Assistant Athletic Trainer  |  Community Independent School District

Nevada, TX  |  $72,768–$90,128 (Annual)

An assistant-level AT position with a ceiling approaching $90,000 in rural East Texas is not something you see often. Nevada is a small community about 45 miles northeast of Dallas — cost of living is well below the national average and Texas has no state income tax. That combination makes the salary ceiling genuinely meaningful purchasing power. Clear career structure under a head AT and team physicians with supervisory responsibilities over student assistants. BOC certification, Texas TDLR license, and CPR/AED required. Ask about the coverage load and whether the head AT shares event assignments or whether most evening and weekend coverage falls to the assistant.

Head Athletic Trainer  |  Masters Academy International

Stow, MA  |  $85,000 (Annual)

Building a sports medicine program from the ground up at a high-performance independent boarding school in western Massachusetts. The $85,000 flat salary is competitive for the setting and Stow is in the greater Boston area but far enough west that housing costs are more manageable than the city proper. 401(k) listed. The scope here is genuine senior leadership — strategic planning, budget management, hiring and overseeing staff, designing long-term health and safety protocols. Five years of experience required, Master’s degree required. The boarding school model means a different relationship with athletes than a traditional school setting — residential, year-round, and more intensive. Ask directly what the staffing structure looks like once hired and what the budget authority actually covers before accepting a build-from-scratch mandate.

FEATURED ROLES OF THE WEEK

Industrial Athletic Trainer | Moore Wellness Systems   ★ Featured Staffing Partner

Battle Creek, MI  |  $65,000–$70,000 (Annual) (SALARY INCREASE)

Four 10-hour days per week. $65,000–$70,000 with full health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Simple IRA with employer matching. Medbridge account for CEUs. License and credentials reimbursement after one year. Employee Wellness Program included. This is what a well-structured industrial AT role looks like — the scope is clear, the schedule is defined, and the benefits package is written out line by line rather than hidden behind “competitive compensation package.” The athletic trainers working for Moore Wellness have had nothing but positive things to say when they have reached out to us directly. If you are evaluating the industrial space, this is a strong place to start.

Athletic Trainer | Willis Knighton Health

Shreveport, LA | $50,960–$61,100 (Annual)

Hospital-based athletic trainer role working with local high school athletes and community events. Responsibilities include injury evaluation, treatment planning (including modalities), on-field assessment, and emergency care. The position involves collaboration with physicians, a medical director, and other athletic trainers, along with team travel and coverage of nights, weekends, and holidays. Schedule is listed as 8:00am–4:30pm, with additional event coverage as needed.

This is a traditional outreach-style hospital role with solid physician integration and exposure to both clinical and field-based care. The salary range is clearly listed, which is always a plus, and the structure suggests a team-based environment rather than being on an island. Like most roles in this setting, the schedule likely extends beyond standard hours, so understanding how coverage is shared across staff will be important—but for someone looking to work closely within a sports medicine model at the high school level, this is a steady, established option.

What's Worth Calling Out This Week:

Worcester, MA  |  $15/hour

One of the bigger stories in baseball this week was the Boston Red Sox firing manager Alex Cora and five members of the coaching staff after a 10-17 start to the 2026 season. The organization moved quickly and decisively, framing it as a necessary reset.

And in the same week, the Red Sox posted a Minor League Assistant Athletic Trainer position in Worcester, Massachusetts at $15 per hour.

Not $15 per hour as a floor. Not $15 per hour with a conversion to annual. Fifteen dollars. Per hour. Flat. For a BOC-certified athletic trainer working a full season with a professional baseball organization.

The Red Sox have the resources to fire an entire coaching staff and absorb those contracts without flinching. They do not, apparently, have the resources to pay the athletic trainer managing the health of their minor league players a living wage.

This is not a Red Sox problem exclusively. It is an industry-wide problem in professional sports that gets dressed up in the language of “exposure” and “career development.” The exposure is real. The compensation is not. If you are a new graduate considering this role, go in clear-eyed about what $15 per hour means in Worcester, Massachusetts — a market that runs above the national average on cost of living. The experience is valuable. The paycheck is not.

Athletic Trainer  |  Georgia State University

Atlanta, GA  |  $39,000-$60,000 (Annual)

Georgia State University posted a full-time Athletic Trainer position in Atlanta this week at $39,000 to $60,000 annually. The role includes primary medical coverage and travel for Women’s Cross Country, Track and Field, and Football. Football. At a Division I Sun Belt Conference program. Starting at $39,000.

Atlanta runs roughly 15–20% above the national average on cost of living. A $39,000 floor in Atlanta is not a starting salary — it is a retention problem waiting to happen. The $60,000 ceiling is more defensible, but the floor is the number that tells you what the department thinks a BOC-certified AT covering D-I football is worth when they walk in the door. Georgia State has a rapidly growing athletic department and a tuition assistance benefit that has real value. However, none of that changes what $39,000 means in Atlanta in 2026.

Until next week — stop looking, start finding.
